Cooperation with authorities

Lovaville is committed to maintaining a safe platform and cooperating with competent law-enforcement and judicial authorities in accordance with applicable law.

Lovaville reviews governmental requests individually and may disclose information when legally required or otherwise legally permitted.

We recommend that requests originate from an official governmental or law-enforcement communication channel whenever possible.

Information to include

To help us process a request efficiently, authorities should provide:

  • Name of the requesting authority
  • Name and position of the requester
  • Official contact information
  • Jurisdiction
  • Legal basis for the request
  • Description of the investigation or matter
  • Relevant Lovaville account identifier, username or email address
  • Specific information requested
  • Relevant date or time period
  • Applicable deadline
  • Any confidentiality or non-disclosure requirement

Verification

Lovaville may take reasonable steps to verify:

  • The identity of the requester
  • The authority of the requester
  • The authenticity of the request
  • The applicable jurisdiction
  • The legal basis for the request
  • The scope of the information requested

Emergency requests

Requests concerning an imminent threat to life, serious physical injury, child exploitation or another serious threat to an individual's safety should be clearly identified as EMERGENCY REQUEST. Emergency requests receive priority handling. Where permitted by applicable law, Lovaville may disclose information necessary to address an imminent threat.

Preservation requests

Where legally appropriate, Lovaville may preserve relevant information pending receipt of valid legal process.

Preservation of information does not automatically constitute disclosure.

Disclosure

Where disclosure is legally required or permitted, Lovaville seeks to provide information relevant and proportionate to the request.

Depending on the circumstances and information lawfully held by Lovaville, this may include:

  • Account information
  • Registration information
  • User-generated content
  • Reports
  • Moderation records
  • Relevant access information
  • Transaction information
  • Other information lawfully held by Lovaville

Availability of information

Lovaville does not guarantee that a particular category of information will be available for every account or investigation.

User notification

Where legally permitted and appropriate, Lovaville may notify an affected user of a governmental or law-enforcement request.

Lovaville will not provide notification where prohibited by law, court order, or where notification could interfere with an investigation or create a risk to an individual.

Privacy

Requests are handled in accordance with applicable data-protection law, including the GDPR where applicable.

Lovaville seeks to disclose only information for which an appropriate legal basis exists.

Improper or insufficient requests

Lovaville may reject, return or request clarification of requests that cannot be adequately verified or that do not provide an appropriate legal basis.
